Once you have filled out the forms to request a tutor, you will be assigned within 24 hours.
What are your hours?
What’s the cost of tutoring?
Tutoring for Undergraduate students is absolutely FREE. There is no cost to students.
Are the tutors students? How well do they know their subjects?
Approximately 2/3 of tutors are undergraduates; the rest are grads. They all have significant, well-informed knowledge of the courses they tutor.
How do I contact my tutor?
When you return to find out who your tutor is, you will be given his/her business card with either the phone number, e-mail address, or both; use this information to contact your tutor. Your tutor will also try to contact you via your e-mail address and/or phone #.
How often can I meet with my tutor?
Generally, up to 3 hours per class per week.
How late at night can I contact my tutor?
The answer is up to the tutor, but preferably do not call after 10:00 p.m.
Can my tutor help me with my homework?
Yes, your tutor can HELP, but he/she cannot do the work for you. The tutors are there to help you come up with strategies for successfully approaching your work.
If I decide that I don’t need my tutor anymore, what do I do?
Contact the CAE office and let us know about your decision; also e-mail or phone your tutor so the latter can make adjustments to his/her schedule.
Do you have tutors in all classes?
Not EVERY class, but the vast majority of them.
Can I change my tutor if I don’t like them?
It is possible if you have a solid, material reason for wanting the change.
Do I have to meet with my tutor in the CIW Library?
No, although the library has lots of convenient space as well as resources/materials on file for classes.
Can I have more than one tutor for different classes?
Yes, you can request a tutor for several different classes, if you wish.
